Bookkeeper & Client Account Manager

Heaton Property is a multi-award winning lettings agency based on Heaton Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. We specialise in providing rental property for professionals in Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding areas. Our company focus is on residential property lettings and management. We also offer services including block management, property investment, maintenance and building refurbishments to landlords with property in the region.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a leading independent property lettings and management agency. As a bookkeeper and client account manager your duties will include but aren’t limited to:

  • Assisting the lettings and property management teams with accounts support
  • Accurately posting and reconciling transactions for multiple client accounts on our property management system
  • Processing supplier invoices and producing customer invoices for multiple business accounts in Sage 50 Accounts
  • Producing monthly financial reports
  • Preparing year-end financial reports
  • Producing VAT Returns
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Experience within the property industry is not required but all applicants will be expected to have an understanding of the basics of accounting practices, and some prior experience in an accounting or bookkeeping background is preferred.

Other essential skills or experience includes:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Good interpersonal communication skills by e-mail, phone and in person
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Must be computer literate with a good knowledge of the core Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A natural willingness to assist customers, clients and colleagues
  • Ability to follow processes and systems
  • Personable and articulate
  • An understanding nature but an ability to be firm where required

You will be working within the Heaton Property team in the office environment and dealing with clients both face to face and on the phone and will therefore need excellent communication skills, a strong, friendly personality and an eye for detail. We are a multidisciplinary team and frequently adapt our roles as the business grows, so a ‘can do’ attitude is a prerequisite. You will be computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the basic principles of bookkeeping and double entry accounts.

Starting Salary: £20,500 – £22,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours: 37.5 per week

Heaton Property operates during the following hours:
Monday to Thursday: 9.00am and 6.00pm
Friday: 9.00am to 5.00pm
Saturdays: 10.00am to 2.00pm

Duration:  Permanent
